Steven Milgrim



Steven Milgrim, LPC, LSATP

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Brandeis University and a Master's Degree in Counseling from Marymount University. I have been working in the mental health field since 1987 and have been licensed as a Professional Counselor and Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner in Virginia since 2000. I enjoy working with adolescents and adults as individuals, couples, families, and groups. Having worked in group homes, shelters, community living centers, outpatient clinics, partial hospitalization programs, residential treatment facilities, community-based care, and private practice, I am able to utilize a variety of approaches to ensure that each client is treated as an individual.

Esther Romero



Esther Romero, MS, QMHP, Licensed Resident in Counseling

Esther Romero has a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the College of Staten Island and a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. She is currently a Licensed Resident in Counseling and working towards licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor under the supervision of Mr. Steven Milgrim, LPC, LSATP. Esther has been working in the mental health field since 2014 and enjoys working with adolescents and adults as individuals, couples, families, and groups. Esther has experience in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use/abuse, criminal activity, relationship/family issues, Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and anger management. The majority of her experience has been working with court-mandated clients conducting assessments and treatments. Additionally, she enjoys psycho-education and working with diverse/multicultural clients. She is fluent in both English and Spanish. Her approach to therapy is eclectic, using evidence-based techniques that have been proved to help with specific problems and adapting her approach to each client’s unique needs and treatment goals. She most often uses interventions from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Humanistic Therapy, and Solution-Focused methodologies. She is currently on Active Duty and has served in the military for 15 years. Her professional affiliations include American Counseling Association, American Psychological Association (APA), Association for Domestic Violence Treatment, and Division 19 Society for Military Psychology.



Kane Brown, Resident in Counseling

Kane Brown, Resident in Counseling

Kane Brown is a Resident in Counseling who is passionate about mental health and helping others. Kane joined Milgrim and Associates in May 2023 and enjoys working with couples, individuals, families, and children. Kane holds a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and worked as a teacher before pursuing a career as a counselor. Kane graduated from Adams State University in 2023 with a master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. He has a solid foundation in therapeutic techniques and evidence-based practices. Kane creates a safe and supportive space for his clients to explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences, utilizing a person-centered, empathetic, and non-judgmental approach.

With a focus on couples counseling, Kane helps partners navigate communication challenges, trust-building, and relationship transitions. He also has experience working with individuals, families, and children, tailoring his approach to meet their unique needs. Kane draws from various therapeutic modalities, such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, amongst others. Kane's warm and collaborative demeanor empowers his clients to discover their strengths, develop effective coping strategies, and make positive changes in their lives.
